About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join our team and support analytics initiatives across the business. The data engineer will play a key role in supporting data pipeline development and maintenance frequently interacting with engineering teams in China. The ideal candidate will have strong ETL skills and data warehouse skills and SQL skills, a passion for problem-solving and is a consummate team player.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership, engineers, program managers and data scientists to understand data needs
- Apply proven expertise and build high-performance scalable data warehouses
- Design, build and launch efficient & reliable data pipelines to move and transform data (both large and small amounts)
- Securely source external data from numerous partners
- Intelligently design data models for optimal storage and retrieval
- Deploy inclusive data quality checks to ensure high quality of data
- Optimize existing pipelines and maintain of all domain-related data pipelines
- Own the end-to-end data engineering component of the solution
- Design and develop new systems in partnership with software engineers to enable quick and easy consumption of data
Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of total experience.
- Fluent Mandarin speaker (Must have)
- Experience interacting with China based engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field such as Analytics Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience working with modern data transformation tools like DBT.
- Advanced knowledge of databases and SQL with the ability to efficiently stage, process, and transform data.
- Experience integrating and orchestrating data workflows with various modern data tools and systems.
- Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing solutions.
- Experience working with a data warehouse such as Snowflake.
- AWS experience is a bonus.
- Experience with a data workflow orchestrator tool such as Airflow, DBT Cloud, AWS step functions
- Experience with a programming language such as Python.
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferably based on the US west coast
