Database Administrator

You will work on a team that is developing enterprise-level clinical data software. As the Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing database installations, performance, and maintenance. You will collaborate with application developers regarding various database design concerns. You will focus on database performance with proactive monitoring and take a lead role in the proposed solutions.

Your day to day:

• Perform troubleshooting, resolution, and root cause analysis for database and application incidents
• Monitor the servers to develop capacity plans and performance improvement plans

• Execute database baselining, benchmarking, performance analysis and tuning
• Maintain and enhance database maintenance routines
• Work with company technical leads and development teams to create and execute project plans
• Manage database patching, upgrades, and implementation of database security policies
• Perform profiling and performance tuning new and existing sql statements and stored procedures

• Document policies, processes, and procedures
• Cross-train members of the organization on how to use databases effectively and efficiently
• Support other key initiatives as the business dictates

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent work experience
• Strong knowledge of MS SQLServer and RDBMS concepts

• Strong knowledge of monitoring tools and performance tuning
• 7+ years of relevant work experience installing, designing, tuning, and supporting SQLServer databases preferred
• Strong understanding of product and software development life cycles
• Proven ability to handle multiple scrum teams and multiple priorities
• Must be a critical thinker and able to analyze and evaluate trade-offs in solving problems

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent understanding of English
