The Database Administrator, Dev Ops position, a fully remote position, reports to the Sr Mgr, Security, Infrastructure, and Production Support and is responsible for database design and architecture. This role serves as gatekeeper – data availability, data quality, and speed of access to data. He/she/they must have a greater understanding of the application's data storage requirements and the business logic involved. This knowledge includes designing, creating and maintaining database schemas and tables. This role will involve helping others review changes to the database as they are introduced. This role is expected to stop actions that may breach the goals of the Database Administrator and help resources find a better way to accomplish their goal.

Essential job functions:

  • Maintain, develop and assist the development team with all our clients’ databases, including performance, integrity, consistency and reliability 
  • Interact with various teams to continuously enhance databases for our business needs
  • Work with the development team to incorporate business requirements and technical solutions into existing systems
  • Create and maintain of SQL reports
  • Create documentation of database structure and procedures

Additional functions:

  • Perform requirements analysis
  • Conduct and participate in meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings
  • Document and effectively communicate of the results of efforts
  • Communicate insights and plans to cross functional teams and management at all levels of the organization
  • Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements
  • Manage multiple priorities

QualificationsMinimum Job Requirements 
  • 8+ years of professional database experience
  • Extensive knowledge of MySQL (experience with Postgres SQL is a plus)
  • Experience working with AWS (RDS, Aurora MySQL compatible, etc.)
  • Experience with utilizing Percona Toolkit for executing Alters as well as exposure to Perona Monitoring and Management (PMM.) 
  • Functional knowledge of Agile or SCRUM methodologies
  • Strong documentation ability is a must
  • Ability to implement and manage traceability throughout a document and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to understand technical conversations and solutions
  • Familiarity with creating Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and/or Business Requirements Documentation (BRD) including user stories, use cases, and diagrams
  • Experience working with onshore and offshore teams is a must
  • Experience in the retail sector and/or tire industry is a plus
  • Automotive industry experience is a plus

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Talking through the computer for many meetings and one-to-one conversations
  • Continuous viewing of a computer monitor and data entry.
  • Travel as necessary (< 10%).
