Job Description

Project Overview:

Information system support for government Public Building System (PBS) servers, networks, applications, and devices. The project includes a wide range of service and support for Help Desk, installation, provisioning, patching, updating, securing, monitoring, and reporting on the performance and availability of assets and applications.

Provide experience around ORACLE Database Administration and SQL Server Database Administration and are responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL and ORACLE database systems. Our main goal is to ensure the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications.

  • Installation of MS SQL Server (2016, 2019) and Oracle Databases (19c)
  • Serve as SME on MS SQL databases
  • Maintaining production databases, which includes MS SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL
  • Monitoring database efficiency
  • Ensuring space availability
  • Develop, test and manage backup and recovery plans
  • Sustaining the security and integrity of data
  • Supporting application deployments
  • Monitor performance of DB to provide fast query responses to users
  • Ensure that storage , archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly (RMAN, scheduled export jobs)
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
  • Perform DDL, DML, import and export of data (exp/expdp/imp/impdp)
  • Create/modify PL/SQL packages and procedures
  • Create shell scripts to execute PL/SQL commands that send dumps and logs and schedule them in cron
  • Perform database backup and recovery, DB account creation, modification, deletion, DB shutdown and restart, DDL, DML commands for MS SQL Server 2016 and 2019.
  • Database maintenance, backup, recovery of SQL Server 2016 and 2019 database and server security administration.
  • Perform database upgrade and migration of SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres and MySQL DBs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
  • 5-8 Years of relevant experience with MS SQL Databases
  • Must be able to work Weekends and Shift Schedules
  • Experience with Linux, Oracle, VMware, and Windows
  • 2 Years experience with Jira
  • 3-4 Years experience in JBOSS
  • Ability to perform system administration and integration of system fixes, updates and enhancements

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in supporting network/system monitoring tools
  • Experience working with appropriate complex systems administration, database administration, and "LAN Administration or "Network Maintenance"
  • Must be able to multi-task and manage amongst projects
  • Tasks initiative and doesn't need constant instruction
  • Excellent follow-through
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot system problems
  • Good personal computer and business solutions software skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and customer service skills

Certifications (Required): At least two (2) of the following:

  • SQL Server DBA certification
  • CompTIA Security+
  • ITIL

  • The salary for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 annually
