DevOps Engineer II

You:

You build self-service capabilities into infrastructure to keep your fellow engineers independent and moving forward. You are expert with IaaC tools such as Terraform to repeatedly build environments that are HIPAA compliant and secure. You are adept at building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and believe in shifting quality and security left. You’re curious, love experimenting with new tools, and keep your skills up to date. You understand that security is not a product and that regulations like HIPAA are just a starting point. You’re excited by the opportunities an ambitious startup will offer, and you look forward to building the tools that will support a diverse, growing team of engineers.

What you’ll do:

• Write code to improve Parsley’s infrastructure and developer experience
• Contribute to architectural decisions and direction with an eye towards security and compliance implications
• Be available for on-call rotations should performance or stability issues arise after hours
• Thoroughly document all systems
• Be a code owner and project initiator, able to take an idea and run with it
• Help improve instrumentation, alerting, and observability of our products
• Build new internal tools to support the needs of our product and platform engineering teams

Stack:

• Google Cloud Platform hosts all custom applications and services
• Kubernetes orchestrated, Dockerized services, running Go, Java, Kotlin, and Node.js
• Google App Engine hosts React front-end applications
• gRPC for back-end services, GraphQL for front-end clients
• Current languages of choice are Go and TypeScript
• Managed Postgres with Cloud SQL
• Managed message bus with Cloud PubSub
• BigQuery is our data warehouse
• Datadog handles our metrics and alerting
• Sentry logs exceptions
• PagerDuty delivers the bad news
• Github Actions provide CI/CD service
• Identity Aware Proxy provides access control

What you'll need:

• Experience as a DevOps or infrastructure engineer with a security focus in a cloud-based environment
• Highly experienced with GCP, GKE/Kubernetes/containerd, Docker, CI/CD, and systems monitoring
• Experience with Terraform 
• Proficient with most other aspects of our stack, or reasonable analogs
• Thorough and capable debugger
• Strong knowledge of encryption, security fundamentals, and their application

Parsley Health is committed to providing an equitable, fair and transparent compensation program for all employees.

The starting salary for this role is between $123,250 - $145,000, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with candidates during the process.
