JioCinema is seeking a seasoned Director of Design Operations to join our team in Bangalore. This role joins design leadership to manage design work streams, assessing capacity, establishing timelines, coordinating team ceremonies with cross-functional partners and more. You lead the day-to-day operations of the team, and their projects with autonomy, versatility and agility. You know how to make the complex simple. You’re tuned-in to the health of the team and always working to create a positive environment. People know things will go smoothly because you’re running point.


Design at JioCinema is part of the Product team and you will be the primary liaison for all our communication - comfortably knowledgable, articulate and informed to keep stakeholders updated, unblock issues, and keep things on track. Your background and experience as a Designer yourself, means you are well versed in all technical nomenclature, and have high 

empathy for the design process. As well as the core Product Design team, you will be working daily with TPMs, Product and Engineering to move ideas into production and delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Managing concurrent projects across the whole product design team
  • Holding the design team and partners accountable to project timelines and deliverables
  • Holding designers accountable for design quality and consistency
  • Act as a bridge between the Design team and the Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing teams by making sure interdependencies are understood and planned for being the connector between Product Design and Marketing in go-to-market efforts
  • Point out connections and reconcile possible collisions between different product offerings, features, and platforms using data and consumer insights to challenge design decisions
  • Building trust with cross-functional partners and fostering highly- collaborative design processes
  • Provide stakeholders with visibility and updates of current projects, resource use, team performance, and product/campaign health
  • Measure, implement or drive changes to make sure designers are working at optimum efficiency
  • Bringing best-in-class operations practices, while working within existing processes and making recommendations for improvements that can make a huge difference
  • Representing design while actively leading & participating in all-product team meetings
  • Collaborating across teams and seeking to understand the needs of product, engineering, program and brand partners
  • Facilitating processes and managing deliverables in cross-cutting initiatives such as Design Systems and other foundational practices
  • Identify team needs with regard to process, tools, documentation, asset management, etc.
  • Creating and managing contracts of freelancers and vendors
  • Managing and forecasting design team budgets
  • Delivering on timely communications to ensure teams are informed and accountable
  • Setting boundaries that protect the team – balancing workloads with time for rest and recovery
  • Managing the design team calendar, actively ideating and planning ceremonies (like Town Halls), celebrations, cascades of information and sensitive issues
  • Direct line management of all Design leaders; level D6 upwards. Dotted line management of all design team members for skip sessions

We are looking for you if :

  • 8+ years experience in product design operations, building successful consumer brands
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership positions within Design (preferably Director level, project management or Ops in the latter stages).
  • 5+ years of demonstrable people management experience coaching and developing team members
  • Experience leading with creative vision, purpose and innovation
  • Experience leading leaders
  • Experience driving business results in ambiguous problem spaces
  • Experience recruiting talent and developing design careers
  • Experience collaborating, driving consensus among highly cross functional teams
  • Experience partnering with and influencing Chief Product Officers and other executive stakeholders
