Director Finance, Capital Planning

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the SVP Corporate Development & Strategy, the Director Finance, Capital Planning leads UL Solutions Capital Planning process. Responsible for partnering with all UL Solutions Senior Leadership and financial planning functions, including key stakeholders across the organization. The Director Finance, Capital Planning is a strategic thinker with a proven track record in financial analysis, strong leadership skills, and the ability to provide insights that support informed decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Key decision support leader for the board, CEO, and leadership team on capital expenditure (USD 200M+).
• Build and lead the new Capital Planning team to provide companywide view on where UL Solutions should prioritize our capital spending and to identify and evaluate strategic merits of selected projects.
• Lead and coordinate on our capital approval process, ensuring proper analysis of each project with relevant inputs from business and function considered.
• Lead the preparation of capital approval materials going to internal committees and board.
• Owns and manages the capital project review process and prepare relevant materials.
• Work closely with business and functions to regular update and review capital project pipeline and achievement of annual CAPEX targets.
• Work closely with FP&A team to ensure CAPEX and OPEX related to capital projects are properly budgeted and accounted for.
• Work closely with corporate development and strategy team on evaluating "buy vs build" analysis on new projects / deals.
• Work closely with accounting, IT and other functions on continued improvement on capital project accounting and IT system.
• Investor relations partnership and support, including financial content to investor relations process and evaluating analyst information for alignment with UL Solutions.
• Manages the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• 8-10 years directly related experience within area of expertise which includes managerial skills.
• High degree of emotional intelligence and work well across the enterprise but particularly at the most senior levels of the company on complex and time sensitive topics.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret financial risks and gains when analyzing financial data.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and calculate the financial impact opportunities would incur on the company.
• Strong technical skills and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to extract data from a Financial System.
• Demonstrated ability to manage departmental objectives, staffing and budgets.
• Detailed knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting and finance.
• Detailed knowledge of statistics.
