Job Description
The Director IT Operations has overall accountability for the IT production support activities and operations of the Excellus Health Plan Inc. computing environment. This includes Level 1 Computer Operations Activities, Level 1 Service Desk (Helpdesk), Production Support/Scheduling, Data Center Facilities, End User Computing, and Telecommunications.
Essential Accountabilities:
• Acts as a single point of contact and escalation for the overall production computing environment.
• Coordinates daily activities across all aspects of the IT hosted and non-hosted Infrastructure and the overall production environment.
• Responsible for daily reporting on the health and performance of the IT infrastructure and production environment through a series of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for both the online and batch computing environments.
• Provides resources and leadership to perform production support and Level 1 activities across all technology disciplines.
• Provides resources and leadership to perform service desk and Level 1 activities to support internal customers.
• Provides resources and leadership to perform all deployment and support activities associated with End User Computing (hardware and software).
• Provides leadership and maintains primary accountability for all Data Center operations activities through the Data Center Operations staff.
• Provides leadership and maintains primary accountability for all Data Center activities (environmental, connectivity, hosting, other).
• Provides leadership and maintains primary accountability for all production scheduling activities.
• Provides leadership and maintains primary accountability for select application environments through operations infrastructure monitors and 3rd party products specific to the application environments.
• Responsible for the overall operations, deployment, and support of the Telecommunication environments.
• Provides leadership and drives expense reduction throughout the IT organization through the optimization of infrastructure hardware and software spend.
• Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
• Maintains knowledge of all relevant legislative and regulatory mandates and ensures that all activities are compliant with these requirements.
• Conducts periodic staff meetings to include timely distribution and education related to departmental and Ethics/Compliance information.
• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
• Performs other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Ten (10) years of experience within IT or related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field In lieu of degree, sixteen (16) cumulative years of related experience required.
• Three (3) years of experience managing people, with demonstrated advance leadership skill in managing personnel through subordinate professional, management, or supervisory staff; and basic mastery in working with others in both authority and non-authority relationships on a routine basis required.
• Industry experience/certification with CMM/SEI/ITIL preferred.
• Must have a very strong organizational development skills and experience in leading organizational transition.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex technical information
• Demonstrated experience with quality principles and tools. Demonstrated business and technical problem-solving skills.
• Very strong analytical and business process development skills.
• Works effectively and efficiently in both a matrixed and 3rd party outsource environment.
• Communicates effectively with users/partners/external customers and all levels within the organization and across a range of disciplines.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work prolonged periods sitting and/or standing at a workstation and working on a computer.
• Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.
• Ability to work in a home office for continuous periods of time for business continuity.
