Job Description
Financial Administrative Support Services (FASS) seeks a dynamic Director Accounting & Consulting to spearhead and expand our vital consulting practice. This is a unique opportunity to blend your expertise in nonprofit accounting, strategic business development, and team leadership to make a tangible impact on the organizations we serve.
Reporting to the COO, you will be the driving force behind our consulting services, from cultivating new client relationships to delivering expert financial solutions. You'll influence strategy while diving into the details of budgets, accounting procedures, and policy, either directly executing tasks or managing your team to success.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):
β’ Strategic Leadership & Business Growth:
β’ Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow FASS's consulting services, identifying new business opportunities and setting ambitious goals.
β’ Lead the development of compelling client proposals, presentations, and onboarding processes.
β’ Act as the primary contact for consulting inquiries, building a strong pipeline of potential clients through networking and relationship management.
β’ Collaborate with the COO on service pricing, fee structures, and annual adjustments.Establish and track key performance metrics to continuously enhance service impact and profitability.

β’ Expert Financial Consulting & Oversight:
β’ Provide comprehensive, hands-on accounting and financial expertise to multiple nonprofit clients, including:
β’ Full month-end and year-end close processes.
β’ Preparation of financial statements (Statements of Activities, Financial Position, Cash Flows) and tailored reporting packages.
β’ General ledger management, account reconciliations (bank, investment, all balance sheet accounts), and journal entry preparation.
β’ Budget development, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
β’ Payroll processing, billing/grant billing, and fixed asset management.
β’ Serve as a subject matter expert, resolving complex accounting issues and guiding clients through audits and interactions with external agencies.Configure accounting software for new clients and optimize existing systems and procedures for efficiency.

β’ Client Relationship & Service Excellence:
β’ Deliver exceptional customer service, acting as a trusted advisor to client leadership and Boards of Directors.
β’ Train client staff on budget development, financial statement interpretation, and best practices.Keep FASS leadership and clients informed about financial status and operational effectiveness.

β’ Team Leadership & Development:
β’ Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of professional and technical personnel, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
β’ Conduct performance evaluations, recommend training, and foster a collaborative team environment.
β’ Oversee and review the work of FASS staff (journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements).Ensure adequate client coverage through effective staff training and cross-training.

β’ Ensure adherence to FASS policies, internal controls, and client data confidentiality.
β’ Uphold the highest standards of professional integrity and judgment.
What You Bring (Qualifications & Experience):
β’ Required:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in accounting or a closely related field, OR an equivalent combination of robust training and experience.
β’ Demonstrated ability to identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities.
β’ Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), particularly as they apply to nonprofit organizations.
β’ Advanced proficiency in general ledger accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
β’ Expertise in automated accounting systems, financial software, and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Suite, Google products).
β’ Excellent supervisory, communication (written and oral), presentation, and analytical skills.
β’ Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
β’ Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
β’ Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and model the mission of The Health Trust.
β’ Self-motivated, critical thinker with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.High level of professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

β’ Preferred:
β’ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
β’ Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
β’ Five (5) years of supervisory and management experience.
β’ In-depth knowledge of federal/state regulations, FASB standards, internal controls, and cost management techniques relevant to nonprofits.
Working Conditions:
