Director of DeWitt School of Nursing

Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) announces a national search for the next Director of the DeWitt School of Nursing housed in The College of Sciences and Mathematics with a concurrent appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2025, and there is some flexibility. SFA, the newest member of The University of Texas System, began a century ago as a teachers’ college in Texas’ oldest town, Nacogdoches. Today, it has grown into a regional institution comprising six colleges — business, education, fine arts, forestry and agriculture, liberal and applied arts, and sciences and mathematics. The University serves approximately 11,000 students providing the robust program offerings of a state institution with the personalized, student-focused experience of a private university.

SFA seeks an experienced, dynamic and collaborative leader who is passionate about nursing education and a visionary to shape the next strategic plan together with faculty and staff preparing the next generation of nurses while strengthening partnerships with state and local healthcare systems and advancing virtual modalities in healthcare training. The next Director of Nursing will report to the Dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics and have oversight of 40 didactic and clinical faculty, adjuncts and staff. The key qualifications for the position include but are not limited to: a terminal degree, “a PhD,” EdD or DNP will be accepted, sufficient experience to warrant a tenured appointment in one of the disciplines within the School; a strong record of research and other scholarly achievements; minimum of two years of teaching experience in a professional nursing education program; an unencumbered current license or willingness to become licensed in the state of Texas, and experience in academic administration.
