Job DescriptionÂ
Empirical Systems Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a dynamic Software Engineer to join our team. ESAero is a growing aerospace company in the San Luis Obispo area and provides services which include but are not limited to: rapid system development, on-demand niche engineering, hands-on development/testing, and small UAS aerospace system manufacturing.Â
**This position is fully on-site at Empirical Systems Aerospace in San Luis Obispo, CA
Job Summary:Â
ESAero is seeking candidates for a position in Software Engineering including the following specific areas:Â

Real-time and embedded systems
-
Designing and developing prototypes and testing of UASÂ
-
Development and Operations (DevOps)
-
Firmware development
Responsibilities and Duties:Â
-
Collaborate on all phases of development: Reqs, Design, Build, Test, DeliveryÂ
-
Help to create novel solutions to complex technical problemsÂ
- Write high-performance real-time codeÂ
- Assist in the creation of internal tools and pipelinesÂ
- Exploration of new technologies, techniques, and approaches to a problem -
Create comprehensive runtime assurance suitesÂ
-
Architect complex code systemsÂ
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:Â
-
US Citizen
-
Willing to relocate to San Luis Obispo, CA
-
BS in Mechatronics (preferred), Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fieldÂ
-
Demonstrated clear communication & writing skillsÂ
-
3+ years of C++, and Python experience (both preferred)Â
-
Working knowledge of compilation & build tools (Code Composer, NetBeans, VSCode, Qt, CMake, Make, GCC, Clang...)Â
-
Familiarity with version control using GitÂ
-
Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques and fundamentalsÂ
-
Development experience with ARM-based microprocessorsÂ
-
Experience writing testable code and unit testsÂ
-
Comfort in a Linux development environmentÂ
Desired Skills/Experience:Â
-
Working knowledge of wireless transport protocolsÂ
-
Experience with low-latency video streamingÂ
-
Experience bringing up CI/CD workflowsÂ
-
Knowledge of PX4 and Ardupilot flight stacksÂ
-
Experience with common computer vision techniques and librariesÂ
-
Experience with the use of Docker to test and deploy codeÂ
-
Ability to read electrical schematicsÂ
