What You'll Do:
Traeger Pellet Grills, LLC is seeking an Embedded QA Engineer at our Salt Lake City, UT headquarters. This role will be responsible for developing and managing test procedures that qualify Firmware and Hardware for product releases. As part of this responsibility, the Embedded QA Engineer will work with the development teams for testing the firmware for new and existing grill products.
This role requires a deep understanding of firmware, hardware, automated tests, and experience in a full software development cycle. This person will be involved in collaborative activities as well as effectively communicating project progress and information with the wider team. Succeeding in this role will require creation and execution of detailed test plans that deliver on our core goals of on time, on quality, and on cost execution.
How You Will Help Us Win:
- Build and lead test procedure and process creation, definition and execution of best practices
- Work closely with the Electrical Engineering and Performance teams
- Work closely with external development resources
- Create and manage engineering documentation that meets industry standards
- Design and perform experimentation for early validation and verification of focused designs and full product concepts
- Host brainstorms and other ideation activities
- Have and maintain awareness to the most contemporary technology
- Create fast and functional prototypes using appropriate control and electronics hardware
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on existing and future products
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
- 3-5 years of experience working as an Embedded/Firmware QA Engineer writing and executing test procedures
- Familiar with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN
- Experience with IoT products and architecture including Bluetooth and WiFi
- Experience in C and Python
- Experience with automated testing platforms
- Experience with unit testing platforms (Ceedling)
- Initiative and a wide degree of creativity is required
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work with teams cross functionally
- Must have proven experience developing and testing products
- Ability to effectively create and communicate ideas using physical prototypes
