Job Description

TheĀ Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an experienced Physician AssistantĀ to provide diagnostic evaluation and management of acute medical complaints for children and adults, presenting to theĀ Mt. Ascutney Emergency Department.

Primary responsibilities for all assigned patients include ordering diagnostic testing, obtaining consultations, performing procedures within the advanced practitioner’s scope of practice, prescribing medications, directing the administration of medications by nursing staff, and ensuring an appropriate disposition plan.Ā

About Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center:

Mt.Ā Ascutney Hospital and Health Center is a critical access hospital in Windsor, Vermont founded in 1933 and winner of the Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service. Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center features 25 inpatient, medical-surgical beds and a renowned, 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. The Hospital has a therapeutic pool and physical therapy department as well as acute care, transitional care, and hospice. In addition to a primary care base in multiple locations, specialty services include dermatology, gastroenterology, general surgery, oncology, ophthalmology, pain management, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, podiatry, rheumatology, urology, and others.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited PA academic program
  • National specialty certification as FNP, PNP, Acute or Primary Care A-GNP, WHNP or certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Required Licensure/Certifications
  • Eligible for PA licensure in the State of NH
  • Eligible for Federal DEA Registration
  • BLS certification
