Job Description

J o b Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Structural Engineer with leadership and team-oriented management experience to oversee the growth, development, and technical excellence of our Structural and multi-disciplined engineering practices. The candidate will report through the Denver, Colorado office with remote positioning accepted. Periodic travel to the Denver, CO office will be required. Occasionally travel to project sites will also be expected.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

AECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer for this exciting opportunity to oversee the growth and technical development of our robust Structural Engineering practice. Technical expertise within the field of Structural Engineering is essential, in addition to coaching, mentoring and development of people-managers within the structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering fields. The selected candidate will work closely with the Structural Engineering Manager on complex project types in the Federal, Sports, Civic and Science and Technology Market Sectors. The candidate will work with discipline and business line leadership to develop and lead a dedicated teams of Architects and Engineers. The candidate will be expected to act as a trusted source for technical reviews, conceptual designs, client interfaces, and oversee compliance with regulatory and company standards, regulations, and quality assurance programs.

Responsibilities of the Structural Engineer include a proven track record of:

  • Provides technical leadership for a specialty and is considered a fully capable professional in their field.
  • Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently or as part of a team on technical problems and methods and represents the organization.
  • Manages scope and contracts for discipline-specific requirements
  • Resolves important questions and plans and coordinates work.
  • Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
  • The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually result from progressive experience.
  • Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
  • Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments.
  • Performs structural design of buildings and other structures, including developing drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Plan design work, calculate costs, and time schedules to assign design duties to junior staff working on projects
  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, and technology
  • Reviews and develops proposals, scopes, and contracts for new work
  • Act as an adviser and review correspondences prepared by junior project team members
  • Evaluate project staffing requirements, analyze problems, and communicate staffing needs
  • Attend project meetings
  • Meet with clients, and maintain good client relationships
  • Perform project quality control checking
  • Experience building and leading successful structural and project and program management teams.
  • Managing and directing professional and technical staff to complete complex architectural and engineering projects.
Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Leadership, coaching, development, mentorship, and technical expertise within the field of Engineering
  • Performs work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to internal regional and Buildings + Places management
  • Oversees the preparation of work plans and organizes project studies
  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team
  • Conducts reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement
  • Oversee and develop technical approaches and cost estimates for proposals
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills
  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences
  • Prepare, coordinate and conduct project meeting: Prepare and maintain the agenda and the meeting minutes
  • Help develop and maintain project schedule, project budget and risk register

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management + 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Licensed as a PE
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of related experience
  • Minimum 10 years of managing people
  • Ability to work in Fast-paced environment and Coordinate with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate at a high level with senior leaders within AECOM and/or the client's organization
Additional Information

  • Travel is required for this position.
  • Remote and Hybrid work schedules will be considered for this position.
  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $160,000- $190,000.
