Engineering manager, foundations

Do you love to build great technology and great teams? Watershed is working to scale a world-class engineering team, and we’re hiring for an experienced Engineering Manager to help lead this work. You will join a team of peer Engineering Managers and technical leads to define the culture and practice of engineering at Watershed.

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Enterprise Foundations team, which is responsible for features and infrastructure that cut across our product and enable Watershed to deliver an enterprise-grade product. This team owns and innovates on a wide range of surface area critical to Watershed’s stability and success: think login/auth, granular permissions, API infrastructure, cross-cutting product features like localization, as well as back-of-the-house integrations like demo functionality, support, and pricing enablement. We’re looking for a leader to help set an ambitious and exciting vision for the team, get in the weeds of a diverse range of difficult and interesting problems, and empower each engineer on the team to do the best work of their career to-date.

In this role, you will:

• Be the front-line manager leading the Enterprise Foundations team (5+ engineers), through a mix of people, technical, and product leadership
• Inspire and lead the team through the next phases of growth ($100M+), including recruiting to build the team as the business needs evolve
• Partner closely with a wide variety of stakeholders, e.g.
• Product, Design and Go-To-Market teams to build impactful customer-facing features
• Other platform teams and internal Engineering teams to successfully launch, integrate, and maintain cross-product features that require everyone’s involvement
• Sales, Solutions Engineering, Finance, and Support to ensure core back-of-the-house business functions are supported in the Watershed product

You might be a good fit if you have:

• At least 2-5 years of direct engineering management experience
• 8+ years of overall developer and management experience in total
• A strong platform engineering background: building business-specific systems that other engineering teams use in a scaling company, with thoughtful interfaces and smart abstractions
• Experience with the enterprise readiness feature set, including familiarity with API development and management, is a plus
• B2B experience, and big plus to have enterprise SaaS experience
• A mix of scrappy startup and big company experience is a plus
