Description

In this job, you'll lead a team of software engineers and data scientists, sensing the points of interest on the map that devices visit. You'll take the initiative to create new and improved user experiences, in partnership with teams in sensing, Siri, and apps. Seize the opportunity to work on complex problems from end to end! Together with your team, you'll design, build, and evaluate production algorithms and software systems to infer the place a device is, using a variety of data sets, incorporating multiple sensors-GPS, WiFi, accelerometer, and others. Test your work, dog-food it, collect metrics, and iterate. Don't forget to sweat the edge cases! An issue that impacts a couple billion devices is a big issue. A dedication to users' privacy and security is core to how Apple does business. We want their devices to exhibit the high level of intelligence and proactivity that can only come from deep contextual understanding. We don't want their sensitive data coming back to Apple or going to third parties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Several years of management experience, deep in the technical details of the team's work.
• A track record of shipping production software for mobile and/or other resource-constrained devices, as an individual contributor and as a manager. Tight memory, CPU, and schedule constraints motivate you and ignite your creativity.
• Bachelor's or graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on professional background in location and/or other wireless sensing technologies.
• Working knowledge of probability, statistics, and machine learning. You've trained and executed models for use in real-world applications.
• Laser focus on customer impact and product experience.
• Excellent communication, verbally and in writing. You can succeed in a collaborative environment, deftly driving multiple projects within your team and across multiple partner teams. You're comfortable with what will sometimes feel like a high degree of uncertainty.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
