Job Description

Your Role 

As the Engineering Manager, you will lead and manage one of our key software development teams, playing a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our MNO (mobile network operator) portal and SIM management solutions. In this hands-on role, you will spend 20-30% of your time actively contributing to the code base, ensuring technical excellence alongside your leadership responsibilities. 

Your primary focus will be on fostering a highly collaborative and autonomous team environment while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. You will support the team in strategic and tactical decision-making, driving innovation in our software ecosystem, and influencing the architecture of our platform as we grow. 

Location: Würzburg, Berlin, or Remote within the EU  

Your Impact

  • Team Leadership: Promote a collaborative team culture, ensuring team autonomy while providing necessary guidance and aligning team goals with organizational objectives.
  • People Management: Leverage coaching and mentoring to support the individual development of team members and manage performance.
  • Planning & Delivery: Facilitate roadmap planning, monitor progress, and ensure that deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide strategic input on technical and architectural decisions, acting as a sounding board for the team and bringing innovative industry ideas.
  • Domain Expertise: Leverage any experience with GSMA specifications or EUICC/eSIM standards (e.g., SGP.01, SGP.22) as well as UICC/USIM specifications (e.g., ETSI TS 102 225, TS 131 102) to enhance the team's impact and drive innovation in SIM card management. 

Your Skills 

  • Effective Communication: Demonstrated ability to clearly express ideas, adapting communication to various audiences, and facilitating understanding and alignment within the team.
  • Adaptability & Leadership: Experience in navigating team priorities, driving results, and executing tactical plans, while strategically managing resources.
  • Problem-Solving: Proficiency in identifying and analyzing problems, making informed decisions, and turning challenges into opportunities for team success.
  • Technical Understanding: Hands-on experience with Angular/React/Vue.JS, TypeScript, Python, Scala, and a solid understanding of mobile 3GPP technologies and architectures (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G). Experience with modern DevOps technologies (e.g., Docker, Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana) and working with AWS public cloud infrastructure.
  • Accountability: Proven track record of taking responsibility for team performance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and executing plans to achieve successful outcomes.
