As an Engineering Program Leader you will play a pivotal role in bringing technical depth to our Advanced Safety products, delivering on Aptiv’s software product strategy, adopting a strategic approach to break down barriers, and developing a deep understanding of customer’s challenges. You’ll build a network with customers and internal technical leads to develop strategic plans and product requirements to deliver value to customers across our Advanced Safety Software products.

Your Tasks

  • Ensuring product development execution of ADAS/AD ECUs to plan and successful launch of series development projects

  • Being a strong customer interface and cultivating strong relationships within APTIV with all involved engineering domains and the program management, across all management levels

  • Developing and leading engineering proposals to win targeted business opportunities with the customer.

  • Demonstrate technological capability and leadership to effectively consolidate the requirements derived from diverse technology and customer trends and expectations

  • Lead product development (design, resources, risks) execution in order to achieve all deliverables within the customer development timing commitments

  • Ensure that engineering budget and headcount needs across competencies and project phase (ADP, Quote, PDP, and Warranty) are accurate and targets are met

  • Lead and develop the customer application engineering team (technical managers, residents)

  • Execute hiring as required to meet commitments

  • Facilitate continuous improvement and re use in design and development to achieve performance and Material Cost Improvement Process(MCIP) targets

  • Drive engineering excellence by identifying engineering quality/efficiency improvement opportunities and drive improvements within. Ensure compliance with project development processes and organizational transformation initiatives

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with potential and existing suppliers and customers; communicate with customer and supplier technical management and work with them to resolve technical or risk issues as needed

  • Work closely with the global product development responsibles to align resources and projects to meet project goals and ensure quotes are doable within budget, resource and technical capability

Your Background: 

  • >10 Years’ Experience in Development of Electronic Control (Systems Engineering, Hard- & Software Engineering), ideally in Safety Electronics respectively ADAS (Radar, Camera, Sensor platforms)

  • Profound Experience in direct contact to multiple customers (OEMs), ideally also in direct supplier & sub-supplier handling

  • Profound Knowledge in Automotive Development

  • Multiple Experience in Leading interdisciplinary project teams, ideally also of internationally spread teams

  • Knowledge about Product Development Processes (e.g.Spice), ideally founded experience in ISO26262 process & development according to this or similar FUSA standards

  • Experience in Mentoring & Coaching of Hard & Soft Skills as required when leading technical teams

  • Business fluent in English & German, ideally knowledge in 3. Business relevant language

  • Engineering Degree in Electronics, Physics or equivalent discipline, ideally additional Knowledge in specific disciplines, e.g. High-Speed/Frequency Design, Mechanics, Tooling, Thermodynamics, Soft development for Real Time applications

Knowledge about Bus Systems (CAN, Flexray, Broad-R Ethernet etc.)
