Job Description
Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located in the Galveston District, Engineering and Construction Division, Construction Branch, Northern Area Office, in Galveston, Texas.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Overnight travel required for work assignments, training, conferences, and rotational assignments approximately 10% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
- This position is designated as emergency-essential (E-E). The incumbent must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. Failure to remain in your position may result in separation for the efficiency of the Federal service.

- Conducting hydrographic surveys using Hypack software; AND
- Performing Global Position System (GPS) surveys to establish vertical and horizontal control; AND
- Preparing survey data for project specifications and tabulations of quantities.
GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:
- Processing complex hydrographic surveys using Hypack Software AND
- Analyzing GPS surveys to verify vertical and horizontal control; AND
- Evaluating survey data for project specifications and tabulations of quantities.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
