Example of Primary Responsibilities:
Program managers are team enablers, passionate about people and program management, who lead through example. As a Program Manager, you would be supporting business operations in Space Destinations through your skills and expertise. You would be responsible for programmatic aspects of your assigned programs/projects with responsibility for customer/partner relationships, cost, schedule, and technical planning, tracking, and reporting, technical execution, and ensuring overall program performance objectives are achieved. You could be leading your own programs/projects or may be assigned as a deputy on larger efforts. You would be instrumental in business resource planning/tracking in coordination with other organizational entities and could support formulating a team that can fulfill program requirements. You would be key in ensuring program issues and problems are identified, tracked, and resolved and, the success of the program. You would be responsible for program risk management and ensuring risks are identified, mitigated, tracked, and managed. You also may be involved in supporting new business pursuits leading and/or supporting the preparation of programmatic estimates and/or leading the programmatic aspects of proposals as part of a capture team.
Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technically related or business discipline and typically the following years of experience; higher education may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Associate Program Manager: At least two (2) years of experience in program management
  • Program Manager - Level I: At least five (5) years of experience in program management
  • Program Manager - Level II: At least eight (8) years of experience in aerospace system development
  • Senior Program Manager: At least 12 (twelve) years of experience in aerospace system development
  • Program Director: At least 15+ (fifteen or more) years of experience in aerospace system development
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • A hands-on manager and/or leader, who understands what it means to be "hard on problems, but not on people".
  • Working knowledge of Program Management Institute Program Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Experience working within the program lifecycle used to help plan and manage major aerospace system developments.
  • Experience with the evaluation of requests for proposals and/or quotes. Experience with preparing, reviewing, and submitting proposals and/or quotes.
  • Experience in technical project cost estimation, schedule planning, writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Cost or Control Account Management (CAM), with thorough understanding and expertise of Earned Value Management (EVMS).

Preferred:
  • Crewed spaceflight program management experience and technical discipline experience.
  • Experience managing a development team to assess their progress, estimate system and project performance, plan the next phase, and enabling decision-makers to assess management and technical progress.
  • Experience working within the program lifecycle used to help plan and manage all major aerospace system developments.   • Demonstrated leadership abilities inclusive of successful risk, opportunity and change management, mentoring, career development and training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, as well as recognize and influence the emotions of those around you.
  • The ability to manage complex situations, delegate authority, lead and inspire your team, drive innovative thinking, instill collaboration, drive for success, challenge status quo, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to dynamic situations.
  • Experience on large "System of Systems" development efforts.
  • Commercial space industry program management experience.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Ability to reinforce the usage & application of Corporate PM tools.
  • General understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS).
  • Experience with ensuring compliance with approved Corporate and ISO 9001:2000 Policies and Processes.

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:
  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $159,430.15 - $219,216.46
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
