Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company throughout 13 states with a commitment to creating quality culinary innovations. This standard was upheld through the expansion into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services by providing elevated concessions and premium offerings to collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, & more.
We are seeking a seasoned, motivated, and innovative leader to join our growing Sports & Entertainment team as the Executive Sous Chef. In this position, you will assist in leading all culinary aspects of events including prior planning, cost management, kitchen staffing, onsite execution, logistics, equipment needs, postproduction check lists, clean up, and budget work. Event timelines often overlap, and cross-country travel is necessary for this role.
Responsibilities:
β’ Be a leader on the culinary team at a variety of events. This position will mainly focus on golf tournaments but will lead and support other venues such as boat shows, collegiate stadiums, concerts, racetracks, and more.
β’ Develop, implement, and communicate creative menu items that adhere to the Proof of the Pudding standard
β’ Execution of events and food service while maintaining the highest level of food quality and presentation
β’ Assist the Executive Chef with management of financial goals and food cost of multiple coinciding events while maintaining and tracking the culinary budget
β’ Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume for multiple service times per day
β’ Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen/food service areas
β’ Create and maintain the overall moral of the kitchen and culinary team
β’ Schedule staff and food production in accordance with the demands of business by working closely with the staffing and sales departments to ensure communication and budgets are kept
β’ Oversee logistical planning and execution of events including communicating equipment needs and kitchen layouts
β’ Knowledge of Microsoft Office, internal and external email communications, and purchasing procedures
β’ Lead satellite kitchens including hourly staff, food execution timeline, and daily prep work.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
β’ 4+ years in a leadership culinary role, experience in S&E or large scale events is needed
β’ Must have impeccable integrity for the business, the community and the Proof of the Pudding Team.
β’ Possess the necessary qualities of self- motivation, desire to learn, and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, demanding, collaborative environment
β’ Possess the necessary interpersonal skills and demeanor for maintaining a safe, equitable and inclusive work environment
Specialized Qualifications:
β’ Excellent listening and communication skills
β’ Proven time management and delegation abilities
β’ Exhibit cooking skills, knowledge, and food handling skills consistent with contemporary training and have the desire to learn more
β’ Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 30 lbs.
Work Environment
This position breakdown will be around 20% in office work, 80% event attendance. Office work entails computer usage, interdepartmental meetings and communications via email, phone, and in person, and assisting with event preparation and planning. Event attendance includes traveling to events across the country, leading teams, and being a managerial presence. Events will be in an outdoor setting with movement between temporary structures, buildings, and semi loading trucks. Supporting other operations throughout the year, including boat shows, colleges and new events.
Physical Demands:
β’ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
β’ Periods of standing, moving through an event space, and traveling from venue to venue with bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
β’ Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 25 lbs.

Position Salary & Benefits:
β’ The salary range is $90,000-$100,000/year, +11% performance bonus
