Job Summary

The Lab Manager is responsible for all infusions / extraction processes at AYR Wellness, spanning across a variety of methodologies. Overseeing the Lab Department, this individual is responsible for management of day-to-day operations of the department, employee onboarding and training, product research and development as it relates to cannabis extractions and concentrates, and oversight of inventory

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages scheduling and process flow
• Conducts or oversees all ongoing infusions / extraction processes at AYR Wellness
• Assists in evaluation and improvement of process efficiency, quality, and output
• Oversees compliance with all regulations, protocols, and all other safety and security measures as required by state and municipal codes
• Coordinates with Cultivation, Processing, and Retail management to ensure output to match patient demand.
• Ensures full compliance with all inventory tracking and control policies and procedures, including frequent daily entries, updates, and reviews of all information within inventory tracking and control software
• Assists in fostering a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while perpetuating a curiosity for "everything cannabis"

Qualifications

• Acute problem-solving skills coupled with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge in pharmaceutical formulation and plant genetics.
• Expertise in various extraction methods as well as the purification, separation, and isolation of various compounds of cannabis.

• Must meet age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agencies
• Able to pass all background checks/fingerprinting as required by state cannabis agencies

• Able to provide valid badging/credentials as required by state cannabis agencies

Education

• High school diploma/GED required
• College degree in Chemistry or equivalent highly preferred, or equivalent industry experience required

Experience

• 4-6 years

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understands how to meet deadlines and execute

• Attention to detail
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to multi-task

Direct reports

• Manages department within a function with authority to hire/terminate

Working conditions

The Extraction Manager may be exposed to dust, kief, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Although systems are in place to remove these byproducts, there is still exposure to some degree. Moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Sitting, standing, and walking motion/movement
• Constant movement of hands/fingers and limbs
• Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
