Financial Platform Staff Engineer

What You'll Be Doing

• Act as a technical leader and domain expert on building and maintaining systems and integrations that underpin Discord’s existing business lines, and enable new revenue streams across Android, iOS, and Web
• Be a strategic partner with engineering, product, and cross functional leadership to advise and chart out pathways to scaling revenue operations and business lines
• Help navigate technical, legal, and regulatory compliance requirements as we launch and grow new business lines such as Apps/Activities IAP, Quests, and (potentially) virtual currencies
• Collaborate with business development to forge strategic partnerships
• Partner with Finance, Product, Design, CX, Data Science, and feature teams across the company to evolve Discord’s payments and payouts platforms
• Improve reliability, observability, and stability of Discord’s billing system

You Will Thrive In This Role If

• Deep domain expertise in the world of online payments, mobile app stores, payouts, taxes, and revenue accounting operations, as well as SOX compliance, audits, and other regulatory requirements
• Experience with revenue accounting workflows such as ERP integrations, revenue reconciliation, financial reporting, and supporting technologies like Looker and Fivetran
• Backend and data experience. We work across multiple stacks for web, desktop, and mobile, but this role will primarily be backend focused. You should have deep experience with platforms, tools and frameworks similar to Python Flask, Pubsub, Google Cloud Platform, Postgres, BigQuery, analytics tools such as Looker and Mode, observability tools like Datadog, and internal tooling such as Retool or homegrown tooling.

• 6+ years of experience, 3+ in relevant roles

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $223,000 to $245,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
