Job Description
About the Company
Founded by ex-Apple Product and Engineering leaders, Level is redefining the smart home space with technology that is simple, intuitive, useful, and invisible. Coupling deep expertise with unabashed curiosity, we strive to make people's everyday better and push the boundaries of what technology can do.
We take a unique approach to designing products - one that shifts focus from what we make to how we make it and who we make it for. It’s an approach that results in elegant and unique solutions, raising the bar for the entire smart home ecosystem.Â
About the Role
We’re looking for a Firmware Engineer to join us in our Redwood City headquarters. In this role, you’ll be writing and implementing embedded software for our consumer smart lock and access control products.Â
Our teams are on the smaller side, so engineers at Level are able to take significant ownership and solve challenging problems directly. You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers and designers who’ve come from some of the most recognizable technology companies in the world, so you can expect to learn from the best while also leaving your mark on the products we build.
Responsibilities
- Write and test embedded software in C & C++, making sure it’s well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable
- Collaborate across engineering teams to help us create tightly integrated hardware and software features for a unified IoT stack
- Develop internal tools and features that improve testing and manufacturability of our products
Qualifications
- 1 - 5 years of embedded software development experience, preferably using C or C++ (if you have less or more experience, but are curious about this role, we'd still encourage you to apply!)
- Solid computer science fundamentals along with practical software development skills, prioritizing testability and reusability
- Ability to take ownership and work independently, collaborate across different engineering disciplines, and learn new technologies and skills quickly
- Experience using tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- A strong interest in the types of products we specialize in, i.e. smart home and IoT
- Ability to work in our Redwood City, CA office
Nice to have, but not required
- Bare metal firmware coding experience
- Experience with ultra low power hardware platforms
- Proficiency in Real-Time Operating Systems such as FreeRTOS and/or Zephyr
- Experience with embedded Linux
- Knowledge of wireless and IoT protocols (BLE, Zigbee, and/or WiFi)
