EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in physical fitness instruction and leadership which demonstrates the following: Knowledge of fitness principles, methods and techniques of instruction; ability to develop and implement a fitness program which meets the needs of the community; ability to evaluate the individual needs of patrons and suggest appropriate programs to fit their needs; ability to motivate and counsel patrons and recommend behavior changes to improve overall health and fitness levels; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to work compatibly with patrons, co-workers, peer professionals and supervisors; knowledge of fitness center equipment and Fitness Instructor/Trainer certification from ACSM, ACE, NSCA, CIAR, or AF AA is required as well as CPR and First Aid certification. 
  • Or, A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field, CPR and First Aid Certification, and the ability to obtain Fitness Instructor/Trainer certification within 1 year. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the qualifications above.
