Job Description
Qualifications:
Education: Accredited school of nursing completion.
Licensure: Current MO RN Licensure and compact for AR and Oklahoma as base determines, completed during orientation and AR EMT is required at Life Line AR licensed bases before completing Life Line orientation.
Experience: Minimum three years ER or Critical Care experience.
Certifications: CEN, CCRN, or CFRN. Must have, or be able to complete within firstsix months ofservice, PALS, TNCC (taken one time), NRP, ITLS or PHTLS (taken one time), Hazmat, and extrication class. (taken one time). Current after 6 months: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, ATLS or equivalent Life Line Trauma Course; certification as mentioned above and AR EMT if base determines.
Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Expected to understand and effectively apply the nursing process, identification of the health problem, assessment, planning intervention, and evaluation of all Life Line clients.
The Flight Nurse practices as a team member, individually contributing to the nursing process and nursing goals by:
A). collection of information that is systematic and pertinent,
B).identification and assessment ofthe problems of the critical patient,
C). formulating a plan of nursing intervention,
D). implementing care,
E). evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention,
F). pre-hospital/hospital environment with emphasis on scene safety, aircraft safety, and patient safety.
Must be physically git and able to lift heavy loads, work in all climatic conditions, and be exposed to outdoor elements on a daily basis. Must be able to practice excellent job mechanics in a confined area, be able to deal with stressful situations, make sound and accurate judgements concerning patient care, and adapt to a changing environment with constant interruptions.
Physical demands are attached, push, and pull horizontal force up to 40 lbs.; grip up to 75lbs.; and punch up to 10lbs. Must be able to kneel, crouch, and crawl occasionally. Must be able to use a Cardiac Monitor, Non-Invasive/Invasive BP Monitor, Mechanical Ventilator, C02 monitor, IABP, Infusion Pump, and computer. As of 7/1/2017, the new weight requirement will be 230 lbs or less in full uniform (flight suit and boots).
