Forklift Operator - 1st shift

Job Description Summary

Responsible for material movement in manufacturing operations by utilizing all types of motorized equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, etc.). The operator must follow established procedures to ensure safe operation of equipment, compliance with regulatory requirements and efficient use of resources. The position requires the ability to work independently under general supervision.

1st Shift | Monday- Friday | 6:00 AM-2:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of basic concepts of warehousing and order processing including receiving, put away, picking, packaging, shipping and returns.
• Applies this knowledge when resolving problems related to these processes.
• Understands and applies the concept of material handling systems and the different types of equipment used in these systems.
• Selects the appropriate type of equipment for each situation.
• Identifies issues with material handling systems and communicates them to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Maintains appropriate licenses or permits as required by regulatory authorities.
• Communicates effectively with co-workers and others who may be impacted by their actions.
• Exhibits effective interpersonal skills to facilitate interactions with others.
• Uses common computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
• Operates motorized vehicles, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks, in accordance with safety standards.
• Performs daily inspections on vehicle before operating and complete logbook entries for each shift worked.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year previous experience working in a distribution/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must possess valid driver's license.
• Previous experience operating electric pallet jack, reach truck or sit down lifts preferred.
• Ability to read/write English documents essential.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, problem solving skills, self-motivated and team player.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates good manual dexterity skills.
• Basic math skills required.
