Position Summary
This position will be designing, developing, and testing Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) that support safety critical logic, sensors, optical and communications systems, as well as high performance processing architectures. You will also implement logic designs and signal processing algorithms in RTL, integrate designs onto FPGA/SoC platforms, and validate devices that communicate to, and fly in, space.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan, lead, and provide technical performance of one or more FPGA projects in space and ground avionics.
- Initiate and develop designs, procedures, techniques and solutions to resolve advanced technical engineering problems.
- Act as a consulting resource of embedded engineering knowledge, apply the latest technological advancements to the problem, and guide the successful resolution of challenges.
- Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management and release processes for Innoflight FPGA products.
- Contribute to the development of new work products and the enhancement of existing systems.
- Provide direction and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelorās degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required.
- 5-7 or more years of experience working with complex FPGAs or ASICs (internship and research experience qualifies).
- 5 or more years of experience using VHDL.
- Experience using Xilinx Vivado and/or Microchip Libero.
- Previous experience working with complex digital designs
- Experience with HLS and other high level design tools.
- Experience with using Aldec Riviera-Pro
- Experience with formal verification methodologies (UVM, UVVM, OSVVM)
- Experience in all stages of FPGA development: RTL design, verification, synthesis/implementation, timing analysis/closure, lab bring up/validation.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces such as USB, PCIe, 10G Ethernet
- Experience interfacing with high-rate conversion interfaces (Xilinx RFSoC, AD9361)
- Experience designing and modeling high throughput IP blocks.
- Experience designing and modeling DSP blocks and algorithms (filters, modems, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to take pseudo-code implementations of math structures (matrices, convolution functions, and transforms) and convert them into an HDL hardware design.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required prolonged periods in stationary position at a desk entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to move, position self, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally transport up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers, far visual acuity, and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Salary Range
$126,000.00-$145,000.00
However, Innoflight considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associatedĀ responsibilities, a candidateās work experience, education/training, and key skills. Employees may be eligible for profit sharing and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. In addition, Innoflight provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, 401K, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
