About the Role:

This role will assist leading fragrance development end to end for the assigned category programs with supervision from Senior Fragrance Development Manager. The Fragrance Product Developer will assist in providing new fragrances and product ideas within the brand, help identify strategic product and fragrance development opportunities from trends, insights and consumer insights and market knowledge. They will act as a fragrance/product expert and trusted advisor for relevant brands/categories, translate ideas into concepts and concepts into products/fragrances, collaborate and build relationships with fragrance houses, and continue to strengthen learnings of product and fragrance development fundamentals.

This is a full-time role with company benefits based in Marina Del Rey, CA, reporting to the Senior Fragrance Development Manager.

The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $65,000 to $80,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.

What You'll Do:

Fragrance Development and Evaluation:

  • Responsible for fragrance development, reworks and evaluation of new fragrances submissions.
  • Responsible for end-to-end development, concept, through brief, through submissions, reworks, approvals, testing, and launch. Working with cross functional partners for milestone ownership and handoffs.
  • Maintain and organize consistent approved standards through all steps of development. 
  • Evaluate and collaborate with Package Development in relation to formula aesthetics and packaging to ensure synergy and communicate effectively cross-functionally.
  • Manage and organize the execution and processing of systems workflow. 
  • Track and record all fragrance submissions and feedback.
  • Brief fragrance houses on vendor new fragrance development.
  • Obtain submissions from fragrance suppliers. Evaluate, redirect, follow up and gain necessary approvals.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on the overall product with respect to stability, as needed.
  • Troubleshoot in response to overall development issues with Manager and cross-functional teams; start to identify possible solutions.
  • Responsible for maintenance and updates of status sheets for assigned programs.
  • Support and help organize panel testing of products/fragrances and provide initial analysis and recommendations.
  • Provide sampling support for large scale external consumer testing; begin to participate in result analysis.

Category & Market Expertise (Including: Internal, External, Libraries, Other):

  • Support tracking of competitive launch activity and inputting launches into the tracker 
  • Obtain a thorough and in-depth understanding of Dr. Squatch and the Dr. Squatch consumer.
  • Build awareness to Dr. Squatch relevant and competitive product and retail channels. 
  • Support the library initiatives within product and fragrance development.

Data Management/Reporting:

  • Responsible for tracking your own brief workflow, with support from management, as needed.
  • Analyze information from timelines in Monday, milestones and status sheets, elevating issues as needed.
  • Responsible for feasibility and accuracy of all timelines build out in Monday.
  • Responsible for milestone workflow documentation.

Cross Functional Support/Relationship Building:

  • Build cross functional relationships with internal peers. 
  • Build professional relationships with relevant external vendors.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications/science/Marketing and 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Google suite products
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Experience w/Monday PM System a plus
  • Experience working in the consumer products industry is highly preferred
  • Someone who gets things done without perfect resources is innovative and works with a sense of urgency
  • Someone who has high standards takes ownership and is invested in the outcome
  • Someone who proactively helps others stays positive and has a good sense of humor
