Job Description
MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center and the Mason City Clinic have an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to join a busy practice located in Mason City, Iowa.
The Gastroenterology Department is seeking two additional physicians to join a well-established practice currently consisting of one physician and one APP. Most surgeries are performed at either the local hospital (MercyOne - North Iowa Medical Center, a 342 bed regional referral teaching hospital) or the Ambulatory Surgery Center located on the same campus, across the parking lot. There is investment opportunity in the ASC. There is growth potential for physicians also to provide a convenience to patients living in nearby town by visiting their communities for clinic and surgery, as applicable.
Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Evaluates patients. In doing so, reviews and interprets patients health history, conducts physical exam, and reviews laboratory, x-ray, and other test reports to determine diagnosis.
- Based on results of patients evaluation, develops, and implements treatment plan and provides education to patients.
- Performs surgical procedures.
- Evaluates hospitalized patient during preop and postop period, monitors progress, and releases patient from hospital.
- Recognizes abnormal patient responses to treatment, surgery and/or medication and implements corrective actions as appropriate.
- Documents all aspects of care provided. Completes paperwork necessary to assure payment for services rendered.
- Participates in the call coverage as assigned.
- Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related material, and by attending seminars, conferences and so forth.
