Job Description
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at Howard University in Washington D.C. is seeking a BC/BE Medical Oncologist. This is a clinician-educator track position with 70 to 80%% of time dedicated to clinical practice. The Howard University College of Medicine’s Division of Hematology and Oncology is based at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC and has a strong tradition of providing outstanding clinical care to individuals living in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. The candidate will participate in all activities of the Division, which include:
Clinical Activity: The Division of Hematology and Oncology has a very active clinical practice consisting of an inpatient consultation service, outpatient clinics, coverage of the hospital-based infusion center, and participation in various tumor board meetings. The selected candidate will concentrate on general hematology and oncology, including solid tumors, malignant and benign hematology conditions including occasional coverage of patients in the in the Howard University Sickle Cell Center.
Education: Howard University College of Medicine is a leader in producing minority physicians. The institution has an accredited internal medicine residency training program with a total of 70 residents across all three years. The successful applicant will participate in the training and mentoring of internal medicine residents and will participate in the education and training of students in the College of Medicine and other health professions schools.
Research: Collaborative opportunities in clinical, translational, and basic science research are available. Current faculty participate as authors or co-authors on peer-reviewed manuscripts each year.
Faculty appointment rank is commensurate to prior academic and research experience.
