Work Location

The position will be based in the Chicagoland area at the GTI Energy Headquarters. We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and are required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise ArcGIS platform
• Utilize ArcGIS as an analytical tool in the environmental and pipeline-related projects
• Identify industry trends and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Work closely with project managers to maintain project schedules and budgets.
• Act as principal investigator for highly technical projects utilizing team members as needed.
• Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including public domain, field collection, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing utility data
• Interact with subject matter experts to perform data analysis and create spatial data visualizations
• Coordinate with other GTI Energy groups on multi-disciplinary projects
• Writing project reports for clients and collaborating with team members to generate proposals
• Investigate and report on emerging GIS-related technology in the energy and environmental industries
• Field data collection utilizing GNSS and utility locating devices
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Ability to use GIS to visualize data sets and perform analysis
• Understanding of field-based GIS technology
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Ability to find, evaluate, learn, and implement new technologies to meet customer needs and goals
• Ability to travel to client sites to support project work in field settings
• Understanding of non-GIS, non-RDBMS data types, database formats, and ETL processes to analyze data (e.g., big data stores or graph databases like Hadoop, MongoDB, etc.)
• Excellent and proven communication, writing, and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field, with 7 years of relevant experience; advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with ArcGIS Products (Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Survey 123, Field Maps, Collector, extensions)
• Experience with GIS in the utility industry, preferably natural gas pipeline
• Experience managing enterprise ArcGIS environment
• Natural Gas Industry experience a strong plus
• Experience utilizing field-based data collection tools a plus
• Experience working in MS Azure a plus
• Augmented reality experience is a plus
• Digital twin implementation experience is a plus
