About the Global Software Engineering Manager Role
As a global software engineering manager, you will develop and deploy software engineering personnel to customer application and core product engineering teams. In your role, you will consistently manage the application of a single global product development process. This requires project oversight and the ability to effectively manage methods and tools across all product teams. As a manager, you are responsible for continuous improvement activities and serve as an enthusiastic steward and advocate for agile development culture and innovation.

About the Global Software Engineering Manager Role
As a global software engineering manager, you will develop and deploy software engineering personnel to customer application and core product engineering teams. In your role, you will consistently manage the application of a single global product development process. This requires project oversight and the ability to effectively manage methods and tools across all product teams. As a manager, you are responsible for continuous improvement activities and serve as an enthusiastic steward and advocate for agile development culture and innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering combined with more than 10 years of automotive product development experience.
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
- Scrum Master certification or a minimum of three years' experience in an agile environment.
- Direct experience with process development and improvement desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Advanced Systems Engineering Director, define and implement a strategy that includes key success factors such as: first-time quality and outsourcing. Perform regular reassessments and course corrections
- Timely deployment of software engineering resources to battery management system and lithium-ion battery development project teams. These would include prototype and series projects (both internally and customer-driven)
- Lead definition, alignment, roll-out and execution of agile development methodologies across the advanced system engineering group.
- Allocate software engineering resources to provide support to continuous engineering activities, including production support, VAVE, full life cycle maintenance etc.
- Support the selection and engagement of all non-Clarios software engineering resources, whether individual, multi-person, T&M or work package-based
- Ensure proper management and oversight of all non-Clarios software engineering resources, including on-site support personnel (contractors / offshore coordinators) and offshore. Work in conjunction with the Engineering Quality team to devise and implement appropriate management processes, tools, and management KPIs
- Develop and train internal Technical Experts to ensure consistent application of proper software engineering discipline throughout the product development cycle
- Represent the global software engineering function in technical discussions with current and potential customers
Success at Clarios means being a team player:
- Collaborate with engineering leaders in defining agile processes for all engineering disciplines, and support documentation and roll-out of the defined processes. Drive consistent and proper application of global software engineering processes, methods, and tools across all product lines
- Work in conjunction with the Engineering Quality team to ensure proper quality of event for essential program reviews, including design reviews, code reviews, engineering sign-off events, quality audits and other assessments
- In conjunction and cooperation with Product and Customer leaders, create engineering resource forecasts and budgets and manage/balance staffing needs. Lead the candidate interview process for all new hires
- Provide an efficient, swift, and effective path for escalation/resolution (as needed) of software issues (technical, resource, timing, etc.)
- Assume a leadership role in implementing continuous improvement activities within the software engineering discipline, including applying BBP, LEAN engineering discipline, etc.
- Review preventative actions identified and implemented as part of the product 8D process and ensure the team implements systemic changes to avoid a repeat occurrence
- Develop software technology roadmaps in support of product and market forecasts. Link roadmaps to advanced development projects
- Develop and execute Annual Development Plans, Performance Reviews, and Succession Plans (as appropriate) for each team member
