Grant Accountant
Overview
The Grant Accountant is responsible for managing the full life cycle of assigned grants, from award through close-out, ensuring accurate billing, reporting, and compliance with funder requirements. This role includes preparing and submitting timely invoices and financial reports, performing budget-to-actual analyses, monitoring expenditures for allowability, and supporting both internal reporting and external audits.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and analytical, with a strong grasp of financial compliance, grant guidelines, and forecasting. They will work closely with program managers and the finance team to ensure data accuracy, support strategic decision-making, and implement process improvements for increased efficiency in financial reporting.
Responsibilities
· Manage assigned grants from award to close-out.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual invoices and financial reports for grant funders.
· Monitor grant expenditures and compare against budgets for allowability and compliance.
· Support internal reporting processes including budget vs. actual analysis.
· Review GL activity and work with the finance team to execute reclasses when necessary.
· Conduct variance analysis and assist with budget forecasts.
· Assist with grant budget development and revisions.
· Interpret funder guidelines to ensure financial compliance.
· Provide audit support through documentation and analysis.
· Support internal teams in understanding grant budgets and financial status.
· Work closely with program managers to provide tracking, financial analysis, and review of grant claims.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· At least 3 or more years’ experience in grant or project accounting.
· Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, forecasting).
· Experience using Oracle or a similar ERP system.
· Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and cost allowability rules
· Experience working with federal and state grants.
· Experience in nonprofit or public-sector environments.

Pay: $66,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
