This position is not eligible for a Chapter 21 contract. A Letter of Assurance will be issued.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:To enhance the district’s overall marketing/communications efforts to develop, implement and coordinate brand identity for Irving ISD. The Graphics and Website Coordinator plays a key role in promoting Irving ISD through high-quality graphic design and visual representation across print and digital media including the district’s website, marketing materials and public relations campaigns that engage, inform and inspire internal and external audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications or other related field
Special Knowledge/SkillsAdvanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software
• Advanced proficiency in web content management systems, web content and design
• Demonstrated skills and knowledge of color, composition and typography to create professional designs for both web and print
• Demonstrated skills in copywriting, proofreading and editing for proper grammar and punctuation
• Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills
• Familiarity with printing industry operations and practices; able to send appropriately packaged electronic files to print
• Proficiency in using different file types/resolution, knowing their appropriate application, how to convert between them and best practices associated with each
• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet established deadlines while prioritizing and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
• Strong ability to maintain and organize files
• Knowledge of current trends in the areas of graphic design, web design, social media, communication strategies and aesthetics
• Understanding of branding, marketing and communications and how the three disciplines complement each other
• Ability to provide photographic art direction for printed publications and digital formats

Minimum Experience:
Three years of professional experience in graphic design – evidence of skill by submission of a portfolio
or graphic design work
Experience in website management preferred
Experience in school environment or non-profit setting preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Translate direction or concepts into high-quality design within brand identity
• Collaborate, brainstorm and strategize with multiple teams or clients on a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, programming, collateral, signage, internal communications, publications and marketing materials
• Create new graphics and layouts for print and web use that adheres to existing district graphic standards and identity
• Apply color management, color correction and image editing
• Manage and maintain district website, including but not limited to homepage, departmental pages and campus subsites
• Work with department and campus contacts to create, develop and document website requirements
• Provide day-to-day process management and assistance of website organization and content
• Assist in ensuring the continuity of district communications and adherence to the established branding expectations and standards
• Train district employees as needed to ensure the integrity and efficiency of communications
• Assist in maintaining the continuity of district forms
• Digitize multiple hard copy documents to compile and upload
• Write with clarity and accuracy for use online and in print
• Assist with events, special projects and specific communications as assigned
• Serve as photographer for events, publications and presentations as assigned
• Utilize emerging trends and technologies to develop effective and unique communication.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical/Mental Demands:Ability to maintain emotional stamina while assisting with multiple projects, programs and events. Ability to meet deadlines. Frequent in-district and occasional out-of-district travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Prolonged sitting, repetitive hand motions, lifting and carrying 10 to 15 lbs., walking, stooping and bending.
