Position Description
Origis Energy’s Transmission & Interconnection group is seeking a Manager, Transmission Grid Analysis who is interested in working with a utility-solar and battery storage IPP. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Transmission Grid Analysis & Interconnection. Typical responsibilities include transmission system analysis across the US, power flow models and other required technical data to file interconnection requests. Add Preferred technical background includes experience in transmission planning or generator interconnection process, and previous employment with a utility, RTO or renewable energy company. Proficiency in power flow software is a must.
This person will interact daily with the company’s project development team that consists of subject matter experts in real estate, environmental & permitting, engineering, origination, finance, GIS, procurement, etc. to help identify best potential POIs of utility-scale solar projects and storage.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-house technical studies of the transmission grid utilizing engineering software such as but not limited to PSS/E, PSS/MUST, TARA, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN, PowerWorld, UPLAN or PROMOD
- Perform both systemwide as well as individual n-1 power flow and stability analyses such as contingency analysis sensitivity analysis, and injection analysis, and interpret the study results to identify the optimal interconnection locations (POI) or solar and/or storage
- Relay study results and coordinate with Director of Grid Analysis
- Provide support to Director Project Development - Interconnection with technical materials and modeling data requirements of host Transmission Providers (TPs) and affected systems.
- Maintain accurate GI data in the company’s proprietary data base.
- Review GI study results (e.g. power-flow, short-circuit, voltage stability, transient analysis, etc.) and provide timely and relevant feedback to TPs and/or The company’s management staff.
- Replicate/Simulate the Interconnection studies performed by ISOs/RTOs and other Transmission Providers, and perform network upgrade cost estimates and allocation for the proposed projects
- Familiar with ISOs all throughout the US including but not limited to NYISO, ISO-NE, PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, WECC
- Responsible for obtaining latest Transmission Planning models from various Utility, Transmission Providers, ISOs/RTOs and FERC
- Research on Utilities and or Transmission Provider 10-year transmission plans and new transmission infrastructure
- Any experience with UPLAN to run SCED (Security Constraint and Economic Dispatch) analysis is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required, preferably with an emphasis in power systems.
- Experience running load flow analyses using various system impact analysis software identified above.
- Master of Science Degree in Power Systems Degree highly preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in Transmission Planning or renewable power system analysis or related fields.
- Generation Interconnection model development experience at a utility or RTO is a plus
- Must have good analytical, decision-making, communication, creative problem-solving, and human relations skills.
- Must be organized, self-motivated and capable of working both independently and in group settings.
