Job Description

The Hartford Hospital Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery Fellowship program is accepting applications for the academic year starting July 2025. The fellowship is a one year clinical fellowship for urology graduates (board eligible candidates only) seeking to improve their surgical skills and knowledge base in urologic oncology and robotic surgery.

Hartford Hospital (HH) was founded in 1854. The hospital is a 900 bed hospital, and includes a community based NCI cancer center. The cancer center logs more than 50,000 patient visits annually and is one of 30 community based cancer centers in the country. The department of Urology is affiliated with an academic urology residency program and has a busy urologic oncology section that treats 900-1000 patients with urologic malignancies on an annual basis. Over 300 robotic prostatectomies are performed annually, in addition to large numbers of open, robotic and laparoscopic procedures for kidney, bladder, testicular and penile cancer.

The urology department employs research associates and maintains bladder, kidney and prostate cancer databases. Clinical research is strongly encouraged.

The hospital’s operating rooms are equipped with 5 da Vinci Robots. HH’s research and training facilities also include a state-of-the-art surgical simulation center including a bio lab, cadaveric lab, and inanimate laparoscopic training lab that houses robotic, surgical and diagnostic simulators and a da Vinci Surgical System.

The program has a strong focus on education with regular didactic conferences, case conferences and simulation based training.
