Our Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.
The Trust & Safety Policy team develops and reviews our community policies to promote a positive and safe environment for all of our users and content creators to enjoy and express themselves.
As the Head of Outreach & Partnerships, EMEA/AMS - Trust & Safety, you will lead a team that serves as the primary contact between TikTok's Trust & Safety team and EMEA/AMS civil society stakeholders (e.g., NGOs, academics). You will seek expertise, gather feedback, and test ideas to improve our platform and protect our users. You will advance our work in introducing and implementing policies, programs, and product features that improve safety, as well as enhance trust in our company by engaging with external stakeholders. You will serve in the leadership team of Global Outreach & Partnerships.
It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role/as part of project/ in response to escalation requests/by chance.
This may occur in the form of images, video, and text related to every-day life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child safety; depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals.
Responsibilities
- Day to day management of the EMEA & AMS Outreach & Partnerships team for T&S.
- Develop and implement the overarching strategy for the Regional Outreach & Partnerships team, aligning regional goals with global priorities to ensure impactful and cohesive program delivery.
- Oversee EMEA & AMS Outreach & Partnership initiatives such as regional Safety Advisory Councils and the EMEA & AMS Community Partner Channel. Develop strategies for partnership onboarding and evaluation as well as ways to incorporate partner feedback into program design.
- Work cross-functionally, building synergy and influence with multiple departments within T&S including Policy, Product and cross functional partners in Public Policy, Communications, Core Product and other teams globally.
- Collaborate across global product, program, and regional teams to define EMEA & AMS Outreach & Partnerships external engagement priorities.
- Identify and engage with external experts who can help enhance safety policies and product features across issue verticals (e.g. Minor Safety, Harassment & Bullying, Misinformation) and on topics of relevance (e.g. human rights, responsible innovation, transparency reporting, etc.), and ensure their voices are heard by T&S teams.
- Working in partnership with internal teams, develop a strategy around external conferences, speaking engagements, panels, discussion, webinars, memberships to enhance TikTok's Trust and Safety narrative and mission.
- Collaborate with internal teams to build trust & safety narratives and strategies to boost user empowerment, agency and literacy.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in external engagement roles in tech, advocacy, or government with relevant experience in Trust and Safety or related fields;
- 5+ years experience in leading teams, as well as working cross-functionally with teams such as policy, legal, operations and product;
- Significant background in partnerships, advocacy, policy programming, or related field, with a strong network and understanding of civil society and/or the technology sector across EMEA & AMS;
- A deep understanding of major social and safety issues related to the tech industry (e.g., youth safety, online hate, misinformation);
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences;
- Ability to succinctly describe your vision and highlight roadblocks to an executive audience, bringing desired coordination outcomes;
- A scrappy energy and willingness to pitch in and help on work across the team and a sense of community empathy, global vision, passion, a drive to achieve, humility facing the depth of the unknown.
