Position Summary

The Head of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting is responsible for a variety of internal and external duties related to Lightning’s required SEC reporting process. This includes filing 10Qs, 10Ks, and 8Ks; overseeing other statutory reporting; and coordinating with external auditors as well as participating in the earnings release process. This position is also responsible for managing all accounting aspects for stock-based compensation, assisting with mergers & acquisitions, and providing guidance to the finance team.

While all Lightning eMotors employees are subject to a background check to ensure a safe working environment, due to the nature of this position a credit check will be required for the final candidate once an offer has been made.

Responsibilities

• Manage external SEC financial reporting processes including 10Qs, 10Ks, and 8Ks as well as other required financial reporting processes
• Oversee other governmental statutory reporting in a timely manner, including required XBRL reporting; coordinate with external auditors to ensure conclusion of results occur prior to the financial reporting dates
• Ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting requirements, including revenue recognition, monitoring, and implementing both recent and proposed statements on SEC reporting
• Assist with analyst presentations, ensuring consistency with SEC filings
• Participate in earnings release process, including preparing quarterly management reporting package and reviewing financial information included in the earning release and script; support Investors Relations as needed
• Prepare quarter-end data and other support information such as cash flows and earnings per share calculations
• Develop and implement internal processes and timelines, ensuring external deadlines are met; schedule key quarterly meetings with management and external auditors
• Manage all accounting aspects for stock-based compensation including variation, debt, cash flow, EPS, equity and consolidations
• Assist with mergers & acquisitions, including due diligence, purchase price accounting, integration, and preparing SEC filings as well as the pro forma financial information
• Ensure SOX compliance measures are met and lead SOX compliance efforts
• Maintain Corporate Accounting policies and update as needed
• Monitor major corporate events such as contracts, mergers & acquisitions, debt & equity offerings, and stock-based compensation; assess the accounting impact for Form 8K and other required SEC disclosures
• Act as technical accounting resource by leading research, resolving and then documenting issues throughout the quarter
• Provide guidance to finance team members, ensuring significant transactions are accounted for and documented properly
• Other duties as assigned

What we require:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5 years of experience in a directly relevant role
• Public company experience, with demonstrated SEC filing exposure

• Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8+ years of experience in a directly related role
• CPA
• Big 4 or national accounting firm experience
• Active Disclosure experience
• IPO experience
