Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Product subcomponent design and development, engineering analysis, and reliability testing of new products. There will be an emphasis on hands on engineering and component testing. The successful candidate will support existing X-Ray tube product lines and new product development programs.
- Lead in the development of next generation X-ray tubes from an electrical and high voltage standpoint for X-ray systems and CT systems
- Identify and develop new opportunities in the field of high voltage technology, transient analysis and electric field simulation in different media (vacuum, insulating oil, solid insulation and air)

- Enhance high voltage testing methods in the engineering laboratory and in the factory- Improve high voltage performance predictability for x-ray tubes under field usage conditions.
- Develop test plans and work with engineering technicians to test high voltage prototypes in the engineering laboratory. Assure proper documentation of technical data to validate product components with engineering procedures.
- Drive product supplier quality improvement by using Six Sigma methodology and tools.
- Resolve high voltage related issues in GE's manufacturing facilities in a timely and robust manner
- Lead in the development of the next generation X-Ray tubes and technology via collaboration with GE Global Research
Required Qualifications
- Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering or Physics
- 2 years' experience desired in development/design of high voltage (100kV+) devices or systems
- Must have Electrostatic Finite Element Modeling experience (ie. Maxwell or Ansys)- Practical understanding of high voltage testing and measurement to 200kVDC
- Practical understanding of high voltage breakdown mechanisms in solids and vacuum- Basic understanding of vacuum technology
- Proven track record of innovation and new product introduction
- Experience in project management with on-time delivery is essential
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in X-ray tube design or related devices; ie. Accelerators, klystrons, vacuum interrupters, etc
- Experience in design of ceramic high voltage insulators in vacuum
- Experience evaluating dielectric materials
- -Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
