BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full Time Histotechnician II (HTL) at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) Surgical Pathology Dept

$10,000 Automatic Sign On Bonus Eligible!!!

Position Details:

* Evening Shift: 4 or 5 days at 10 or 8?hour shifts (Mon-Fri)

* 10 hour Shift Hours (1pm-11:30pm) or 8 hour shifts hours (1pm - 9:30pm)
* Currently, do not routinely work weekends, and we have major Holidays off

* Embedding, microtomy, IHC, Special Stains, Recuts,

Experience:

* 1 year of experience
* HT(ASCP)
* Embedding, microtomy and IHC experience (preferred)

Requirements:

* HTL ASCP or equivalent Certification
* High School Diploma or GED
* 1 year of experience

The laboratory performs over 1 million tests annually with a focus on providing accurate and timely results and services to patients and the community we serve. The laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination.

Responsibilities

* Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.
* Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation. Performs and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Performs special stains and immunohistology chemistry, (manual or automated), after reagent preparation.
* Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities.
* Trained to complete tissue gross examination as needed.
* Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493.
