Job Description

We have a rewarding remote-based opportunity for an experienced HR Business Partner to be a change-maker in making the world a safer place. This position offers meaningful work through strategic partnership, influencing leadership, and growing our employees. In leveraging your human resources experience and knowledge of our business (previous experience in the defense industry and/or science and technology field is highly preferred), you will help guide your client groups through all people-related matters to embrace opportunities and challenges.

You will also be responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and leadership. You will support the implementation of HR programs and processes including talent, performance management, compensation, learning and development, and culture development. You will play a key role in building a work environment where everyone can thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Support ~200 employees (and growing) across two divisions, including a technical division and groups within the Business Operations division.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to all levels of leadership and employees, acting as the primary point of contact for HR-related issues and questions within assigned client groups.
  • Proactively engage with client groups to develop a deep understanding of business operations, allowing for the recommendation and execution of effective HR support aligned with overall company objectives.
  • Provide accurate HR policy interpretation and guidance while balancing risk and business needs.
  • Routinely use extensive human resource knowledge and experience to guide and direct client groups in managing employee relations and performance management, conducting investigations, managing disciplinary actions, mediating conflict, and coaching.
  • Apply sound judgment to identify issues and offer HR solutions in ambiguous situations.
  • Act as change agent and leader, proactively identifying organizational issues that limit effectiveness and collaborating within HR to develop and deliver practical solutions.
  • Seek opportunities to support the organization in support of a high-performance culture and leverage Learning & Development resources.
  • Collaborate across functions to solve problems, working with others to resolve significant issues, clarify or interpret complex information, and/or provide initial problem definition and potential solutions.
  • Partner with recruiters and business leaders to support hiring needs.
  • Conduct salary analysis to determine candidate offers and ensure organizational equity.
  • Participate in annual performance reviews, merit and out-of-cycle compensation programs for assigned client groups, ensuring a fair and consistent application as well as company equity.
  • Partner on employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends

Requirements

  • 8-10 years applicable and progressive human resources experience
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees, including senior managers and external parties
  • Direct experience in the timely and proactive resolution of employee relations matters including investigations, corrective actions and coaching; focus on creating a positive employee relations environment and culture
  • Experience providing guidance and counsel to leaders and employees regarding programs, policies, and practices
  • Proven ability to build trust, communicate effectively with transparency, and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with occasional but limited travel
  • Must have solid knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and ability to educate business leaders and employees on these laws and apply in handling of employee issues
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and focus on responsiveness
  • HR experience in the defense and/or science & technology industry is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance for which the DoD requires U.S. citizenship

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, business, or related field
