HV Test Engineer

You as a HV Test Engineer will be part of Hitachi Energy High Voltage business based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. You will be covering all the activities or actions required to enable switching systems to be successfully HV testing along with Partial discharge. Responsible in testing the high voltage systems worldwide for PGHV field services. He/she represents Hitachi energy in general through his presence and technical knowledge and Hitachi energy field services specifically in dealings with the client specification. He/she embodies the Hitachi energy QA philosophy, taking into account the special conditions on the construction sites.

Your responsibilities

• Issuance of Test procedures and Calculation of test values.
• Rounding requirements and parameters of GIS and high voltage; (i) Voltage transformers and current transformers; (i) Basic knowledge of the electrical field (field strength, corona etc.).
• Switching of GIS, Maintenance of HV-Test equipment, issuing of test reports and non-conformance reports, Coordinating and planning schedule of tests with all site participants, participating in meetings with our customers and representing Hitachi energy.
• Actively ensuring that HSE practices are of high standard. Working to eliminate unsafe practices and incidents.
• Performing medium to high complex Service tasks like installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and retrofits, repair independently, identifying technical problems and making analysis through remote or on-site activity in different Service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, extensions, replacements, upgrades and retrofit, end of life service etc.). Coordinating, preparing, and ensuring that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities. Preparing standard lists for ease of work.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction by executing Service work according to customer order and expectation. Creating and maintaining a good relationship with customers and understanding their needs. Identifying new sales opportunities and taking influence in convincing the client for the complete service portfolio.
• Preparing all documents and reports to be signed by the customer representative. Reporting work done in a timely manner and following up when needed.
• Proactively identifying potential equipment failures and proactive corrective actions. Troubleshooting complex equipment failure and making recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
• Proactively identifying suggestions for product, quality and customer service improvement and discussing them with management for changes.

• A bachelor's degree in electrical/mechanical engineer.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of all technical parameters and standards for HV Tests - Clearance distance for flashover, Safety clearance.
• Knowledge of all parameters and their functions of different GIS types ELK-14 and ELK-3: (i) SF6 Gas norms and related parameters; (i) Mechanical components used in GIS type ELK; (iii) Basic knowledge of insulating material and their possible failures; (iv) Switching of GIS.
• Knowledge and interpretation of PD measurement at GIS types of ELK-14 and ELK-3, ELK04, ELKO4 As well as the CC products: (i) Conventional method according to TEC 60270; (i) UHF Measurement: (iii) Theory of partial discharges (iv) Use and install Measurement equipment (v) Defects and their typical patterns, interpretation (vi) Locate possible defect and allocation necessary intervention.
• Knowledge of all relevant standards, such as IEC, ANSI, Saudi Spec. or other local specifications and standards.
• Knowledge and responsibility for occupational Health and Safety including local regulations and standards of safety for HV-Testing.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English and Arabic language is required.
