Summary

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent Facilities Operations Division, Mechanical Systems Branch. The individual performs progressively more complex assignments on electronic equipment and control systems frequently solving multi-dimensional problems while inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining and adjusting heating and cooling systems.

“To be employed by the Architect of the Capitol in a paid position, an individual must meet one of the categories below:

  • A citizen of the United States;

Applicants are required to obtain a valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved Universal Certification to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations while in the performance of duties for this position.  Applicants must acknowledge and sign the Hazardous Waste Management Requirement form prior to entrance on duty for the position.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position.

  • Ability to perform the work of and HVAC Electronics Mechanic (DDC) without more than normal supervision

WG-10:  Ability to diagnose and make repairs, identify, troubleshoot and repair HVAC environment systems, controls and devices (valves, actuators, dampers, etc.); install, overhaul repairs and adjust a variety of electronic components; preform a range of electronic work related to testing, aligning and calibration of multiple electronic systems with limited supervision.

WG-11:  Independently utilizes knowledge for advance troubleshooting and repair of digital control programming; installation, repairing  testing, overhauling and  modification of multiple HVAC electronic systems, utilizing a comprehensive knowledge of electronic principles and practices.
