Job Description
The Interventional Neuroradiology Physician Assistant at Lahey Hosptial and Medical Center provides comprehensive care to patients with complex neurovascular and spine conditions requiring endovascular or image-guided interventions. Working in collaboration with interventional neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, nurses and other members of the healthcare team, the APP provides patient-centered diagnostic and therapeutic services across throughout the continuumโfrom consultation, inpatient, outpatient, procedural, and post-procedural care settings. This includes patient assessments, care coordination, and procedural support to optimize outcomes, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial patient evaluations and consultations for neurovascular conditions (e.g., stroke, aneurysms, AVMs, carotid stenosis) with physician partnership.
- Perform history-taking, physical examinations, and appropriate documentation.
- Assist with pre-procedure preparation, including patient education, informed consent, and coordination of labs and imaging.
- Provide intra-procedural support within scope, including sedation assistance, sterile field preparation, and imaging interpretation support.
- Manage post-procedure recovery and care, including monitoring, follow-ups, and documentation of outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurology, neurosurgery, and critical care.
Procedural and Technical Support:
- Participate in procedural planning, imaging review, and documentation.
- Support interventional procedures such as mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, carotid stenting, and spinal embolization within scope of licensure and training.
Administrative and Quality Improvement:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in departmental QA/QI initiatives and morbidity & mortality reviews.
- Contribute to protocol development and clinical pathways.
- Attend and participate in relevant conferences, CME, and ongoing education.
Education and Certification:
- Graduate of an accredited PA program.
- Current state licensure as PA-C.
- National board certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
- DEA registration required or ability to obtain.
Experience:
- Prior experience in interventional radiology, neurology, neurosurgery, or critical care preferred.
- New graduates with strong clinical rotations in relevant areas may be considered.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong clinical judgment and procedural understanding.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfort in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Ability to interpret neuroimaging studies and understand neurovascular anatomy.
