POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Manager will lead by example, rolling up their sleeves and tackling problems as we work together to provide cutting edge simulation training systems to our customers. You will need to ensure our hardware and software, as well as our policies and practices integrate smoothly, are secure, and enable our success. The IT Manager is a crucial member of our management team, reporting to the Director of Operational Assurance. This role requires an inspiring and collaborative leader and team builder with great people and communication skills, excellent IT, business and operational acumen in engineering environments, and a self-driven work ethic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help select, configure, and oversee the installation and management of on-premises hardware and software solutions, cloud-based SaaS products, engineering and development environments, networking, telecom solutions, camera and security environment, printing, and end-user workstations.
  • Work with subject matter experts to manage our ERP and database systems.
  • Build relationships with the leadership team and employees to mentor on technical solutions and improve performance and efficiency with our technology.
  • Define and enable core IT processes and policies.
  • Ensure robust technology onboarding and training programs are in place for all team members.
  • Backstop technology requests to ensure appropriateness, suitability, and compatibility.
  • Monitor the success of all IT initiatives.
  • Continually develop and evaluate technologies and tools for the company.
  • Maintain awareness of industry security requirements including those required by current contracts, and emerging industry standards.

Strategy, Processes and Standards

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of products, services, and operations at ASI.
  • Maintain knowledge and new trends in the information technology space (products, technology, vendors, risks, regulatory, etc.)
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of security requirements for DoD contractors.
  • Use overall expertise to develop 3-to-5-year strategy and roadmap for software and hardware needs.
  • Provide overall budget plans that align to the strategy and fit within overall financial performance and growth of the company.
  • Ensure appropriate processes and standards are in place and followed to meet performance, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Assess best service delivery models (internal, contracted externally, SaaS, on-premises) for selected and managed for the growth and success.

Network and Computing

  • Purchase, install, and configure desktop, server, network, and communication hardware as needed to ensure business operational performance, capabilities, and continuity.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems/issues.
  • Provide tests and evaluations on new/replacement technology as needed.
  • Provide support to end users (employees, vendors, and customers).
  • Ensure appropriate backup strategies are in place for all data.
  • Ensure documentation is created and maintained in accordance with department standards.
  • Conduct regular assessments of existing infrastructure, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.

Business/Process Analysis and Software

  • Understand the business and engineering functions thoroughly to ensure the IT environment will facilitate optimal capability, process, and data integrity.
  • Assist other areas of the company to understand where technology and software solutions can enable (or improve existing) capabilities.
  • Analyze and report on the performance of current IT solutions to ensure they are meeting the needs of the company and can expand in a timely and cost-effective manner to enable company growth and employee performance.
  • Coordinate vendor selection and management for external/third-party solutions.
  • Manage the implementation of third-party solutions, as well as ongoing performance and support from third-party suppliers.

Security and Operations

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure infrastructure availability.
  • Set effective security policy, train employees on security practices and processes, and ensure our systems maintain secure baselines.
  • Monitor the performance of our networks and software systems, including for security issues or breaches.
  • Notify leadership of any security related concerns or breaches immediately.
  • Ensure we are on latest patches, firmware, operating systems, and versions of all software and hardware to maintain a secure footprint against recent exploits or risks.
  • Stay current on technology and security trends, risks, and solutions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

  • This is a supervisory position responsible for managing tasking and performance for individuals performing Help Desk and System Administration activities.
  • Help interview, select, onboard, and develop new and existing team members.
  • Communicate effectively by ensuring employees understand their job responsibilities, priorities, and overall expectations.
  • Enable your employees to be successful by ensuring they have the tools needed to be successful and being available to answer questions.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Roles as both an individual contributor and a leader, ideally in a DoD contractor environment.
  • 7+ years of experience working in a hands-on Information Technology role.
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Demonstrable understanding of at least one information security framework such as NIST SP800-171 (preferred), NIST SP800-53, NIST CSF, or FedRAMP.
  • Working knowledge of at least one on-premises or cloud-based ERP environment.
  • Expertise in hardware and software technologies, including, but not limited to networking, telecommunications, SaaS Solutions, PC and server equipment, mobile devices, SaaS integration and implementation.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365 services such as Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, or their on-premise equivalents.
  • Proven experience across multiple IT functions (software, infrastructure, security).
  • Experience leading technical teams.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and problem solve in a technically diverse environment with a strong focus on driving projects to completion.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in moving between day-to-day tasking and projects supporting business objectives.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/BA or MS degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • Industry certifications such as those from Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, ISC2, ISACA, SANS, etc.
  • Experience may be substituted for education.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Due to contractual requirements must be a United States Citizen
  • Must be able to pass an initial background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearance. Employee/selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (as required)
  • This is not a remote position, opportunity to conduct work remotely is very infrequent.
  • Required to communicate in English.
  • The ability to travel to installation sites to install and troubleshoot systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Typically, employees sit comfortably to do their work, interspersed by brief periods of standing, walking, bending carrying papers and books, and extensive periods requiring the use of computer terminals to accomplish work objectives.
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.
  • Must be travel via car and airplane.
  • Required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  • Required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment consisting of offices and cubicles with low to moderate noise and bright or dim lighting.
  • Noise level may be increased if conducting work in the manufacturing area.
  • The work is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures.
  • The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as external customers.
