Position Summary The mission of Hope the Mission (HTM) is to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions. The Janitor/Hygiene Attendant will be a safe and clean environment for participants accessing the Storage Center. The Janitor/Hygiene Attendant will provide janitorial services ensuring that all offices, restrooms, and community spaces are clean and disinfected. This position will also assist in packing out of client belongings who exited the program and disinfecting storage bins. Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Ensure cleanliness of the facility to uphold proper health and safety standards 2. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, and community spaces 3. Maintain perimeter of property clean and clear of all trash and debris 4. Ensure that trash is changed, taken out daily, and prepare trash receptacles for weekly pick-up 5. Assist with sanitation of participant belongings in hot box upon intake 6. Monitor facility and report any maintenance concerns as needed 7. Restock supplies in the bathrooms as needed 8. Maintain inventory of supplies on hand 9. Report all supply needs to Manager in a timely fashion and prior to exhausting current supply 10. Ensure chemicals are locked up and stored per environmental safety standards at all times 11. Self-identify potentially unsafe systems/processes/situations and takes initiative to report to supervisor 12. Ability to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as needed 13. Implement crises de-escalation interventions as appropriate 14. Other duties as assigned by supervisor Minimum Qualifications β€’ Lived experience preferred β€’ Minimum of one year of experience in customer service preferred β€’ Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer service focus in working with all internal organizational levels and external contacts β€’ Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable populations preferred β€’ Must be highly collaborative within a team environment β€’ Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks simultaneously in a within tight department metrics and deadlines. Possess ability to manage conflicting priorities and projects β€’ Exceptional organizational skills detail-oriented to review information and ensure accuracy β€’ Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred β€’ Ability to work with diverse populations β€’ Ability to proficiently operate a PC, MAC, fax, and telephone β€’ Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer β€’ Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis β€’ Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, storage bins and reach overhead PHYSICAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Communicate, receive and exchange ideas, information by means of the spoken and written word; Drive vehicle in and around San Diego County; Be able to enter various buildings that may require climbing stairs. Be periodically subjected to outside environmental conditions. Employee may work in proximity to service animals and emotional support animals; Use a desktop and/or laptop computer; copy, postage, and fax machines. Complete all required forms in personal writing. WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using alcohol and drugs, and who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health and safety practices. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the clients use of alcohol and drugs, and lack of personal hygiene. The employee must be ready to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis situations and potentially hostile situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in an office setting.
