IT Job Description:

We are seeking a Nashville-based Jr. Enterprise System Management Engineer to join our Enterprise Systems Management team within the GETS Department. Tasks related to this role are as follows:

  • Candidate will learn and support our Splunk SIEM infrastructure, including index size management, version upgrades, ingestion of new data sources, troubleshooting, and working with internal clients and vendors as needed
  • Candidate will contribute to the planning, engineering, implementing, and supporting a broad base of infrastructure monitoring, data aggregation, and performance management infrastructure globally
  • Candidate is expected to actively participate in the day-to-day technical tasks as well as participate in 2nd/3rd level and on-call support
  • Contribute to the various engineering efforts involving the messaging, directory, and cloud platforms utilized at AB (Slack, Symphony, Exchange, Active Directory, O365, Azure)
  • Take on projects to evaluate new technologies via POCs that could mature to become impactful highly utilized solutions for our clients
  • Creating and presenting project proposals to management for approvals
  • Providing solutions to technical challenges facing the firm presently and future
  • Delivery projects on time and on budget
  • Participate in periodic on-call support for the global technologies we are responsible for

Describe the applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports:

The ESM team supports all technologies that support the monitoring of our systems at AllianceBernstein. This includes but is not limited to monitoring, alerting, data analysis of all systems and applications within our environment.

What makes this role unique or interesting (if applicable)?

This entry level role with expose the candidate to all our applications used for monitoring such as Splunk, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Microfocus Sitescope, IBM Netcool. The candidate will be trained on the support and administration of our suite of applications.

What is the professional development value of this role, i.e. what learning and professional growth does the role offer the candidate?

Candidate will have opportunities to work directly with senior management and IT department heads. Candidate will lead and work on key projects that directly impact the firm globally. We promote opportunities to build skillsets across multiple disciplines.

Job Qualifications (The ideal candidate should have the following):

Bachelor's degree

Preferred Technical Experience and Skills:

  • Fundamental understanding of IT infrastructure components
  • Understanding of Splunk and/or any other log aggregations tools
  • Basic Linux/Unix system administration
  • Understanding of network and system monitoring protocols, SNMP, syslog, ICMP, WMI, perfmon, etc.
  • Network packet capture and analysis (wireshark, pcap, sniffer, network spanning)
  • Familiarity with authentication technologies, SAML, LDAP, TACACS, RADIUS
  • Active Directory
  • Azure Cloud

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Azure Cloud
  • Scripting, programming, or application development
  • Data Analytics

Special Knowledge (if applicable):

The candidate will need to possess strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for a highly motivated and result-oriented skilled professional who can support our diverse clients.
