Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a motivated, and knowledgeable Junior Buyer, who will work under the supervision of the Senior Director, Supply Chain and Procurement or their designate. Responsible to purchase assigned miscellaneous materials at the lowest total cost for the quantity, quality, and delivery required. Coordinate supplier contacts and assist team leader on supplier related projects at Kairos Power Albuquerque, NM facility. Communicate promptly all material problems and lead the efforts in finding solutions. Establish accurate production materials standard costs and monitor them. Develop tracking and system to keep requisitioner informed of delivery.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to internal customers in fulfilling the procurement process
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with reliable suppliers for specified supplies, while understanding the production processes and internal systems
  • Purchase requirements of assigned materials at the lowest long-term cost for the quantity, quality and delivery required
  • Expedite materials when required and handle any unanticipated requests or other problems on materials purchased
  • Negotiate the lowest possible long-term cost through competitive bidding and market supply knowledge
  • Work closely with project teams, sales representatives, communicating and coordinating related purchases, problems, evaluation of services, etc.
  • Provide accurate production materials standard costs
  • Identify and develop new suppliers and perform audits and evaluations
  • Maintain purchasing data bases to ensure dependent departments have prompt, accurate information
  • Perform duties in accordance to Kairos Power policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Supply Chain or Business) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred 
  • 2+ years of related experience (strategic sourcing, commodities, purchasing operations) in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Coupa.
  • Self starter and ability to make decisions and implement strategic purchases with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply procurement principles, policies, concepts and standards, and procedures, INCO Terms including price analysis, negotiations, ethics, terms and conditions and procurement law.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to independently plan, schedule and carry out work assignments, initiate and participate in the improvement of procurement practices.
  • Experience with ERP requisition and procurement systems
