Junior Database Developer

Job Summary:
DT Professional Services is seeking a Junior Database Developer to join our team in Chesapeake, VA in a hybrid capacity! You'll be apart of a team that creates database code using a variety of tools. You will be expected to be proficient in core database development principles and methodologies and break requirements down into appropriately sized packages, procedures or functions, that are consistent with the established enterprise architecture. The successful candidate will also able to quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues and make recommendations to improve performance and reliability, as well as review requirements and estimate accurate development hours and schedule costs.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the SAFe Agile Scrum team environment with a focus on planning and delivering changes iteratively
• Review requirements and develop accurate estimates
• Assist with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning
• Upgrade and improve application schemas and data upgrades
• Process work accurately and in a timely manner
• Work independently or in teams with minimal supervision
• Effectively communicate with customers and other team members
• Takes ownership of system and software to ensure minimal defects
• Help troubleshoot and resolve production issues

Basic Qualifications:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance - Active Secret Clearance is preferred
• Must have Level 1 or higher IAT Certification: A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP (or obtain Level 1 or higher IAT certification within 6 months of hire)
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or another related field
• Demonstrated proficiency in Database languages including Oracle SQL and PL/SQL script development 
• Demonstrated proficiency in writing database code and queries and participate in code reviews
• Demonstrated proficiency to develop stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, policies for databases (e.g.in Oracle 19c)
• Demonstrated proficiency in creating tables, views, indexes, triggers, types, packages, and other database objects as needed
• Demonstrated proficiency in system design, upgrades, and maintenance according to business needs
• Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining database design and system documentation (DBDD)
• Demonstrated proficiency in designing and updating databases in accordance with DISA STIGs
• Knowledge of Database security features implementation to support the STIGs compliance
• Demonstrated experience working with development tools like TOAD, SQL Server Management Studio, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Artifactory
• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient computer skills and ability to use word processing tools like Google Docs

Preferred Qualifications:

• 0 - 3 years Oracle Database Development experience
• MS SQL Server experience is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance, blocking/deadlocking, connectivity, and security issues
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with users, project teams, and management
• Demonstrated ability to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact
• Demonstrated ability to respond to significant inquiries from users
• Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

The compensation range for this position: $65,000 - $75,000 annually.
